Filipino themed wedding and tradition

 Filipino-Themed Wedding

A Filipino-themed wedding is one of the most fun, colorful, family-oriented, yet still-solemn ceremonies that you can have –

To give you an idea about what makes a Filipino flavorful in a ceremony so special, lets take a look at our list of its main elements:

over 20 friends including the bridesmaids

The dress of a Filipino bride is something that’s planned as early as the “pamamanhikan”. This is the Filipino custom of a groom’s family asking the bride’s family for her hand. The occasion usually involves plenty of food, giving it that feast-like atmosphere. Once the bride’s parents give the groom permission, that is when the official planning for the wedding starts.

Although there could be many inspirations behind a Filipina’s bridal dress, a traditional one takes its cue from the national attire for females known as the “baro’t saya”. This is an outfit that consists of a separate top and skirt – although it could also be a full dress. The sleeves of a traditional “baro’t saya” are similar to what Imelda Marcos would wear. Think of it as being similar to butterfly sleeves which you’ve most probably seen in a Lady Gaga outfit. What makes a Filipina bridal dress stand out is the attention to detail, as well as the fabric used. Bridal gowns are usually made from fabric weaved from pineapple fiber or a similar material. Of course, the fit and style of the gown would still depend on the preference of the bride.

  • The outfit of the groom
Next comes the outfit of the groom. A traditional Filipino groom wears a “barong”, which is what men wear during the most formal occasions. A “barong Tagalog” is basically an embroidered button-up shirt with long sleeves. Similar to a bridal gown, the barong can be made from pineapple fiber or other local fabrics like jusi. Grooms usually wear a white cotton t-shirt or a singlet underneath, because the material is very flimsy. This is typically paired with black or dark-colored trousers.

  • The members of the bridal entourage
Just like Western weddings, a Filipino wedding consists of a bridal entourage with groomsmen and bridesmaid. However, the participants of the wedding ceremony extends to primary sponsors known as ninongs and ninangs or godfathers and godmothers, respectively. There are also flower girls, a Bible bearer, a ring bearer – which usually consists of the kids from the bride or groom’s family. The parents of the bride and groom are also part of the wedding march.

Interesting, Fun Filipino Wedding Traditions

The history, sights, traditions, and customs of the Philippines is as colorful and as interesting as its people. When it comes to weddings, for example, the traditions are heavily influenced by the Spanish colonialization in the 18th century. Since majority of the population is Catholic, the wedding ceremonies have become a combination of church-related activities. Add to this a healthy dose of folklore, superstition, and customs that have been practiced by brides and grooms for numerous centuries now, Filipino wedding traditions have become really interesting, fun, and downright quirky!

If you’re having a Filipino themed wedding in Hawaii , you are bound to stumble upon plenty of superstitions, hearsay, fun, and outright weird practices. Again, this all stems from the colonial past of the country which has resulted to numerous influences – from Spain to Japan and the US take a look at what wikipedia Filipino wedding ceremonies

The enchanting masterpiece that music has at a Wedding

Weddings : order of the music selections

the typical music flow of a processional at a wedding ceremony
The event starts from the mothers sometimes they will walk together hand in hand and grandparents are brought in before the wedding starts, the groomsmen and the groom follow the minister up to the alter and then the bridesmaids. Finally the grand entry of the bride though if there are flower girls

they will walk right before the bride throwing the petals she is to walk on . All these events of different bridal parties  are accompanied by their own musical piece. Each music interlude marks the changing events and the importance of the function of music .

Wedding music is of vocal or instrumental kind that can be both classic and contemporary one. It can range from traditional Wagner’s “Here Comes the Bride” to Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me’. This music is performed at wedding rehearsals, rehearsal dinners, wedding ceremonies and receptions.

In most weddings, musicians are hired to perform in the events. Beforehand the wedding parties and the musicians decide what piece they have to perform. Recorded music can substitute to fulfill the functions but live players are often the first choice of the party.

There are four parts to the wedding ceremony that requires music: prelude, processional, during the service and the recessional.

A typical wedding starts with the prelude music. This music is played while the guests arrive and are seated. In moderns days the use of string quartets and harps has increase in popularity to be perform in the prelude music. After the prelude the other events follows accompanied by their own pieces. The bridal march is often accompanied by a procession tune. The most famous tune still followed now is the Wagner’s Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin (1850), often called “Here Comes the Bride”. This piece has been historically played by an organist. There may be few hymns during the service. At the end of the service, a lively recessional tune is played to mark the union of the bride and the groom while they make their exit. The music is mostly uplifting as it will reflect the celebration to follow.

During the wedding service often instrumental music performs in the event but the kind of music entirely lies at your hand to decide.

Types of Wedding music

In a wedding the right type of music can make a big difference. From walking down the aisle to the love song splayed by the live bands or the DJ Playing the selected music. Each piece should be carefully chosen.

To match the music with the theme of your wedding does take a serious consideration. The kind of music that you select has an important role in the wedding. The music helps to create an atmosphere that will suit the big event, set the scenes and pin moment to the memories long after the wedding is over.

The wedding starts with the prelude music. This is an important piece where the music provider establishes the mood for the wedding. The choice of the music is entirely up to you. You can choose a vocal or instrumental kind to create the mood. You can choose the organist playing to create a religious mood to mark the importance of the day. To create an elegant mood you can select string instrument. A vocalist singing contemporary love ballads will definitely give you a romantic atmosphere. If you want to create a variety of different moods, than you can choose ethnic collections. The only general rule that applies to prelude music is that it should not be a dance oriented kind.

During the wedding ceremonies the music should be a soft kind. The bride’s entry is the most important of all the events so the music that is played greatly contributes to this lifelong memory. A recommended music is the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, which will surely create a lasting impression.

The end of the wedding usual marks the union of the couple. The music should be majestic and played with a quick tempo. Ode to Joy by Beethoven and Wedding March from Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream can fully give you the credit to proclaim the union. more info on the wedding song found here  https://www.theknot.com/wedding-songs

Traditionally, at the reception, the bride and the groom take the first dance. The theme music for this moment is entirely romantic. It can be a song which has deep meaning to you or the lyrics describes what you feel about that person.

Another important dance at the reception is the father-daughter and the mother-son dance. You can choose music which will surely tell the importance of the relationship. Since the music expresses your joy it should be fast and triumphant. You can hire a live band or a DJ to perform in the events. Look for someone who is willing to take time to understand what you need. This will ensure your day is full of quality entertainment to your taste.

Ideas on the delivery of a wedding speech

Make your wedding speech felt
and loved by all who are listening

Vow renewal speech by the minister

The important part of delivering a wedding speech is to be heart felt and sincere and some say funny though we are going to suggest a few basic importance of speeches , for example being heard is helpful especially if the sound of the ocean waves are rolling in.

Ministers love to give small advise to the newly weds within their speech at the actual ceremony but if you are chosen to give a speech here are some rules that might be helpful Few helpful pointers in giving a speech at a and event or a wedding .
Take a deep breath at the beginning to help relax the tension and remember to have fun and enjoy giving the speech .
They say the eyes are windows into the spirit of people so let them know you are talking to them .  Also a important make or break delivery is to have what you say mostly memorized from your heart not notes , if you do fumble work with improvising and making the story exciting !.

Give yourself a few easy breaths and pace and relax also work on pausing once or twice to slow down, with feeling the emotion of what you are saying. Delivering the speech in a monotone voice will sound like you are reading from a script and that instantly loses the attention of your special audience.

Try to emphasize words with enthusiasm while adding something that is truly felt from your heart this will resonate well with the guest and the family at the special wedding event , its always fun to add in a few jokes about the couple or funny personal moments you had had with them , include the couples unique personality
as much as you are able to .

http://good2know.pw/weddingspeeches

Confidence always helps with a story though your friends and family will enjoy your honest personality the most instead of trying to pretend to be someone else with your speech delivery.
Make eye contact with a close friend or relative of yours at the beginning of your speech. As you progress through your speech, look for other friends and as you see them enjoying themselves and your speech, you will feel more confident. Remember to smile!
