To begin with, a save the date card might be in order. If you are planning your wedding at a very popular wedding or event season (like June), if your wedding coincides with a holiday, or if you are planning a destination wedding, a save the date card will help your guests know to keep your date open so they can start planning to travel to your destination, or so they don’t accept an invitation from someone else.

Invitations come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Long gone are the days where you chose white or ivory with black lettering. You can have all different types of papers, various fonts, and a variety of colors for both the paper and the text. You could choose to have your enveloped lined with a satin or metallic looking liner that matches your invitations. Decide if you want your return address pre-printed on your envelopes. The post office requires the return address, and this will save you a lot of time.

Beyond invitations, you have to determine whether or not there is a need for a reception card and a response card. The most formal invitations beg for a formal reception card – a card upon which the guest will find your reception information. A less formal affair can get away with a footnote on your invitation with the necessary information.

A response card is the card enclosed with your invitation where your guests will indicate whether or not they can attend your wedding. For the most formal invitations, these cards are a must, and it is your obligation to put a stamp on the return envelope. If your invitations and your wedding are more casual, you can just include on the printed invitation a phone number or an email address where guests can give you their RSVP.

Many brides also opt to purchase thank you notes that match or at least coordinate with their wedding stationery. Another nice thing to have if you will be moving after your wedding is an “at home” card. This card can be added to your invitation mailing, or you can send it with your thank you notes or separately. It gives your friends and family the new address where you can be reached.

When wedding expense seems to be spiraling out of control, it’s natural for engaged couples and their families to start looking for ways to reign in the spending. You may start thinking of some things you can do yourself, or look at choosing less expensive flowers or menu options.

So what about the champagne toast? This staple of many weddings can add a pretty penny to your wedding budget. Even moderately priced bottles of champagne can add a few hundred dollars to your budget, and in many cases, it’s not necessarily money well spent. To begin with, if you are not using a caterer that provides you with serving dishes and stemware, you’ll have to rent champagne glasses for everyone. Usually, the wait staff will pour the champagne in the back, and bring the filled glasses to each of your guests. In this day and age of people spreading further around the world and people making online friends that they don’t ever see due to the distance in miles between them, it may come as no surprise that whether you are getting married in a lush tropical paradise or in the city where you grew up, people will probably have to fly in to attend your affair. If you are jetting off to a lush tropical location, everyone will be flying in with you to witness you exchange vows. But how will they get to you once they arrive at their hotels?

Many couples are considering providing some sort of transportation for out of town guests. This will require you to advise your guests they need to be ready to board the shuttle at specific times. It does save your family and friends from having to worry about coordinating carpools.

Providing shuttle service for your out of town guests makes their trip to your wedding that much easier. Anything you do to help make your guests experience memorable, enjoyable and stress free is going to help ensure a wedding full of happy people.

· Seating - A few white folding chairs or white plastic benches on the beach for the few guests in attendance

3.) Décor: Reference “Simple Stunning Weddings” – “Beach” chapter (begins on page 148). See photos on pages 151, 152, 159. Suggestions:

· Flower petals down the "aisle" and a combination of a few flowers, greenery, candles, sea shells, and torches

· Potentially an arch, trellis, canopy, or tulle…would need to get your suggestions…see your designs…definitely a must .

· Simple galvanized steel or white enamel large “French” flower pails (weighted with sand) filled with long, undulating grasses to build an “altar” / “foundation” and to frame the ceremony space (see photos below). To add interest, add few long stemmed flowers white flowers (such as a few long-stemmed white calla lilies)

· A few additional decorative elements to “personalize” and enhance the space, by adding a few simple, inexpensive decorative items around the flower pail “foundation.” These items could include things such as:

1. Large glass vase with a large white pillar candle and filled with sand and shells

2. Smaller scale glass vase filled with simple floral arrangement

· Color scheme: Shades of white and cream with green as an accent color (sea foam / celadon type of green). To incorporate more of the green, and to contrast the informal beach setting with a more “refined” look and feel, I think velvet ribbon sashes in sea foam / celadon / sage green (possibly with other natural elements such as seashells and raffia) used to enhanced the galvanized pails (around the rim / top), glass candle holders, and wrapped around the stems of the flowers in the vases and bridal bouquet would be lovely. examples are found

Hello

We are getting married here in Honolulu on June 17, 2011 and would like to know what services you provide and the cost for our wedding in Hawaii. we have already established the venue - sunset ceremony at the Coconut Club ( Aston Waikiki) followed by reception at Tikis Grill - the Ocean room - (Aston Waikiki).

We love the Hawaii wedding flower at www.flowerhawaii.com and want you guys to decorate our tables.

Our guest list will be somewhere between 50 and 100 people - the large variance is due to the fact that the majority of guests invited will be flying in from the mainland and Canada so it is too early to know who will be able to make it.

One final thing we would want is for you to provide a list of places we can go for wedding pictures as we will be doing this in the afternoon before the ceremony.

The time for the wedding ceremony will be at 7:30 p.m to catch the sunset, and followed by the fireworks (Friday night Hilton) and a champagne toast. We will then go downstairs to Tikis - Ocean club lanai for the buffet meal and reception.......

You may have some ideas in mind for your Hawaii wedding that you have seen at other weddings. Perhaps you’ve been to a wedding where the bride and groom were greeted upon leaving the Church with the entire Church congregation blowing bubbles or on the beach throwing flowers? . You may be familiar with the old tradition of throwing rice, or the more contemporary version of throwing birdseed on the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Perhaps you are hoping to do a butterfly release at your wedding. These are all wonderful, fun and romantic ideas, but before you invest the money in the materials and the time into creating this type of memory, discuss your intention with the place where you are holding your wedding ceremony.
You have probably been made aware that rice is no longer an option at many wedding ceremony venues. The rice is difficult to clean up, can pose a hazard to elderly church goers, especially if the rice becomes wet. There is a rumor that circulates time and again that eating uncooked rice can cause fatal consequences to birds. This is a myth without any truth to it, but when it comes to birds and rice, they may very well be attracted to the scattered rice, and that alone can cause problems for a Church or other Hawaii wedding location venue.
You may think birdseed is a great alternative, but once again, the seed will attract birds to the wedding venue, and after you leave, the venue may be left with an excess of bird droppings requiring cleaning. Some venues will allow you to throw birdseed at the happy couple, but will charge you a hefty fee for clean up after you’ve left.

Blowing bubbles has also become popular in the wake of wedding venues prohibiting throwing something that they will have to clean up. Some locations, however, especially Churches where services are going to be held soon after your wedding, will not allow bubbles because of the potential for them to leave slippery, soapy patches on sidewalks. Where butterflies are concerned, be very careful about the season and the time of day. A butterfly release can be beautiful, but the creatures need at least 30 minutes of sunlight remaining so they can find a place to roost. Just like with others outside of the Mormon religion as well, a married Mormon couple can get a civil divorce. Even so, they must obtain permission from First Presidency of the LDS, in order to get a cancellation of sealing, or a temple divorce. Members of the LDS religion were required to get a civil divorce first, and then a temple divorce only when they wanted to remarry at some time in the near future. This rule was mainly for women, but was occasionally enforced on men too, until it was revised later.

Also, while a man never had to ask his estranged wife permission for seeking a temple divorce, it was claimed by some that a wife must obtain permission from her husband to seek a temple divorce. This rule has not been proven. Once a temple divorce is performed, both of the separated individuals may again be remarried in the temple to whomever they choose, provided of course that they are LDS members. Naturally, if one individual is not an LDS member, they'll be expected to convert to Mormonism if they seek a temple wedding. Some do and some don't, so just as often, many people instead have civil ceremonies, and keep open minds about temple marriage. The National Survey of Family and Households made in 1993 found that Mormons who married fellow members have the lowest divorce rate of all Americans. Thirteen percent of Mormons divorce after five years of marriage, and that's in comparison with twenty percent rate of Catholics, and a twenty-seven percent rate of Protestants. After 3 wonderful years together, Matt and Christine are looking forward to tie the knot in Honolulu, Hawaii!! We picked a large beach house in Honolulu as our wedding and reception site. The wedding is set at 5:30pm on May 10th, 2008. And it will last till whenever!!

For all of you who will be coming in from mainland US and hopefully China (if the US Consulates are nice enough to let Christine's family to come), we will be providing all guests' lodging from Friday, May 9 till Sunday May 11.

Finally decided to do it...

Back in the summer time, Matt and I started exercising the idea of annoucning our wedding date. We thought we would just skip the whole formal invitation process and do it on eVite... I guess that did serve a purppose of "Save a Date" and we pretty much figured out who is coming and who is not.. But it just doesn't feel complete without a nice piece of paper that spells out our names and our big date.

Then, my Dad's visa issue came in and now I have to make at least 3 invitations for the Chinese families. I searched around online, it seems that I can't even order custom printed invitations without having to order 50! Forget that! Time to get creative!

I found the blank cocktail party cards at Papyrus, pulled out some semi-transparent rice paper and ran them through my $99 ink printer... With a little help with Microsoft Publisher, I made my own Wedding invitation and RSVP cards!

Now I am having so much fun that I decided to make one for each guest(guest group)!

We are wondering about switching out the limo in the package for the trolley or motor coach, whichever is most cost-effective to transport our guests.

In terms of the ceremony set-up...we would like a beautiful setup on the beach
(I'm assuming that's the bamboo structure?) with sheer white fabric
covering it and all white chairs (as in the "white on white"
pictures in the flash gallery). We would like an aisle heavy with petals in shades
of bright pink, hot pink, and red. We would also like a flower lei
(in the pinks and red) on each chair for our guests.
We're also wondering about having water (is champagne allowed?)

A Rough wedding setup diagram for a beach ceremony

Aloha lets take a look at a simple sample diagram of a wedding setup on the beach in Hawaii. I had to travel out of town for business last few days, so i i put together how the wedding theme will look on the beach for you................. I think my finance may have been miscommunicated our plans to you so ho[pefully this drawing will help :-) We wouldn't need a big beach wedding chapel setup for the wedding ceremony. We would like to have the heart shaped flower design on the sand, plus 6 chairs (2 in the front row, 1 chair in the second row) with colorful flowers at the foot of the chairs (to create the illusion of an aisle), and have 2 torches at the end of the aisle behind the chairs. Here's a rough diagram of what we're thinking for the setup.

The rehearsal

The minister will arrange for a rehearsal to take place just before your wedding day so that everybody is familiar with the various procedures. It should be possible for the bride's father, the best man and the chief bridesmaid to be present, but check with the minister as to who he would like you to bring along.

Before the rehearsal the minister will have taken you through the service and explained the vows. He will also have asked you which version of the Marriage Service you would like to use. The first version is now a little archaic, with the bride promising to obey her husband. The second version has a similar format to the first, although the bride does not have to make this promise. The third version was updated in 1980 and includes a number of alternatives for the service and a more modern use of the English language.

The day itself

The ushers should be the first to arrive at the church to ensure that all the guests are seated appropriately. The groom and his best man should arrive in good time as the photographer will want to take a few shots before they take their places inside the church. The bride's mother and the bridesmaids arrive at the church shortly before the ceremony, followed by the bride and her father who are greeted at the church door by the minister.

If you are having a full choral ceremony, the procession is headed by the choir, followed by the minister, the bride on her father's right arm and then the attendants. As the bride and her father reach the top of the aisle, the bridegroom and the best man take their places on the bride's right. The bride will then hand her bouquet to her chief bridesmaid, and either the bride's father or the minister will lift back her veil.

The next stop is St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. One third of the island and much of the coral reef is preserved as a national park. It is a beautiful place for snorkeling and scuba diving. Ten things to remember

Always choose professional musicians and don't be afraid to check what qualifications they have. Most ensembles or bands will be able to provide you with a demonstration CD or tape to give you an idea of the quality of their playing.
Experienced musicians will be able to provide advice on suitable repertoire for the different aspects of your wedding day, and should be able to send you a list of the pieces that they play. They will find it helpful if you then make your own list of the items that you particularly like and also any that you dislike.
If you are having a civil wedding, you must make sure that none of the music played during the ceremony has a religious connection. You may be asked by the registrar to provide a list of the items that will be performed.

If your wedding reception is in a public place (i.e. a hotel, restaurant or hall) then that venue requires a licence for the performance of music that is still in copyright. It is up to the venue (and not you or the performers) to obtain a licence, but if they have weddings there regularly they will probably already have one. If your reception is taking place in a private location (for instance in a marquee in the garden of a private house) no licence is required. Similarly, the PRS do not licence the performance of music during "Divine Service in churches or other places of worship". More information is available from the Performing Rights Society.

Establish contact with your musicians two or three weeks before your wedding to confirm arrangements and to finalise details of the music that will be played.

Some thought will need to be given to the placement of live musicians so that the volume of the music never interferes with guests' conversations. Discuss this with your contact at the reception venue if you are worried, and mention any concerns you have to the musicians themselves as they will be used to bearing this in mind when they play. Your musicians will also need a room in which to leave their instrument cases so that they are safe and out of the way.

When you visit your reception venue make sure that you have checked that there will be enough room to position the band or ensemble. Check with the musicians as to how much room they will need for their instruments, music stands, amplifiers and so on, and ask them if they have any special seating requirements. String players, for example, require chairs without arms in order to bow their instruments properly.

Your musicians will require short breaks from time to time. It is a good idea to provide them with some refreshments, and depending on the time of day something to eat as well.

If you are going to ask your musicians to play outside, it is helpful to make sure that there will be some form of shelter from the sun. The varnish on some instruments can be ruined by strong sunlight.

Double-check what procedure the band or ensemble has in the event that one of its members is unwell. They will probably have a list of experienced deputies, but it is worth making sure.

My finance and I are interested in getting a wedding website for my Hawaii wedding in November. i was wondering how i go about setting up a personal wedding website with multimedia flash However, I was wondering if the site may be customized as a unique non template kindof site. We will have four guests joining us the design shouldnt be to extensive. Do you offer anything in what i want and how much would it cost.

Expert advise for the Groom

You've asked for her hand in marriage and she said "Yes." So, now what happens? Do you just show up at the church at the appointed time and say "I do?" No, gentlemen, it has only just begun. You have to get involved, you have to help make all the wonderful preparations for that special day. But, as many people have found out, planning a wedding has often canceled a few. That is to say, planning a wedding is a stressful process that can keep two people from getting married.

But, have no fear, amigos, that's why you read this column. I'm here to help you out of this particular problem. So, how do you get involved without going crazy? Easy, make a budget and then, work on the things that interest you, allowing the bride and her support group to focus themselves on other details. By setting up a budget and dividing the work, both of you profit by decreasing individual workloads and establishing a greater sense of agreement through allowing both of you to have input into the details of the entire day.

The first thing to remember is that communication is essential. Always discuss information before decisions are made. When you've written down the information on that stretch limo with the pool in the back and the free champagne, make sure you talk to your loved one before you put down the deposit. She may have been thinking about a classic open air Rolls-Royce to show off her new husband and her beautiful dress. Maybe you could compromise with a stretch Rolls-Royce or a classic convertible. Marriage is all about the joining of two lives, your planning needs to be the blending of two opinions as well.

Perhaps you could also arrange for the punch bowls, tablecloths, tables, silverware, and other assorted items for the reception. The tuxedo rentals, of course, are a primary concern. Be sure to pick the appropriate type of tuxedo and make arrangements for each of your groomsmen to be fitted. Enlist the help of your best man for this-it makes the job easier. Also, your best man may be able to assist you in picking up and then returning the various rental items of the day, allowing you and your new wife to concentrate on other matters.

Teamwork is the key. You are the quarterback and you need to send in the right plays and see that they are properly executed. The better organized you are, the easier it will be for you to gather all the necessary information. Above all, keep cool. Nothing spoils a good wedding like an overheated groom or bride. Keep the communication lines open and everything will be just fine. Good luck!

Choosing Your Attendants

We all say we dont want to hurt anyone when choosing who will be our bestman and maid of honor, there is so much to think about when it comes to planning a wedding. After the engagement is announced, most brides-to-be select their attendants before beginning any other part of the wedding process. It's a good idea to pick your attendants early so you have a core group of people who can help.

Choosing attendants isn't always easy. Sometimes people who expect to be asked and are not have a hard time handling the disappointment. If you're hoping for a small wedding party but have a huge familia, it may be hard to pick and choose. You need to put egos aside and feel comfortable with who you choose. I spoke with several brides and below are their suggestions for choosing your attendants.

"I only wanted four attendants," said Amelia*. "I thought that would be a perfect number without having too many. So I was very particular in who I chose. I had my best friend, my fiancé's sister, my sister-in-law and my roommate. There was one other friend I considered having in my wedding but I really wanted no more than four. I explained the situation to my friend and she was very understanding. I actually appointed her as my 'special friend' [in charge of] specific duties on the day of the wedding."

Another bride had a different outlook. "I wanted a large wedding party. I was getting married to the greatest guy in the world and I wanted everyone I knew to be there," said Christina*. "I had nine bridesmaids [including] the maid of honor. I had all the people that were very special to me in my wedding and although the party was large, when I look over my wedding pictures I see childhood friends, cousins, college roommates and even my sister."

When it comes to choosing your attendants be realistic. Can you really afford to have a large wedding party? If you're trying to keep the wedding costs down, will having a smaller wedding party help? If you chose eight attendants, does your fiancé have the same number of groomsmen? All of these are important factors and should be considered when deciding how large of a wedding party you will have.

If your mother, future mother-in-law or both are very particular about the people who should be in your wedding party, try to compromise. If they want you to have future sisters-in-law, cousins and other people with whom you're not close, explain to them that you've always dreamed of having a smaller wedding party, or let them know how important it is to have certain friends in the wedding without going over a certain number of attendants. Consider a compromise with those who you may feel obligated to include in the wedding day celebration. Explain to them that you have enough people in your wedding party but would be delighted if your future third-cousin would help the guests sign the guest book.

Even though this is your big day, remember that this day is important to many other people as well. Be flattered that so many people care about you and want to participate. You only get married once, so just think you'll never have to go through the trauma of choosing your attendants again. And you thought this would be the easy part!

The Sassy Weddings

I hope that you are weel i just love your blog. The last time we blogged, I had expressed interest in a grouping of small cakes as opposed to one large wedding cake. I have attached a picture of something that I just fell in love with. David and I thought it would be really neat if, instead of having separate groom and bride cakes, we could split the smaller cakes into two different flavors--David likes chocolate, and I'm a fan of lemon. We could tell the flavors apart by distinguishing them with different colored ribbon on the bottom--black for the chocolate, and maroon for the lemon. The flowers on the top cake could be a golden color, similar to the golden kala lillies in my bouquet. We will need enough cake for around 36 guests.
